UPDATE : I WAS INCORRECTLY INFORMED OF THE MEETING TIME. THE MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR 5:00PM TONIGHT, TUESDAY, MAY 6TH.
Due to a Conference being held in Billings for Local City Government Officials, the Regulary Scheduled City Council Meeting is being held tonight, Tuesday, May 6th at 7:00pm instead of Wend night. For those that want to attend, these “special” meetings can get interesting as it seems that the City Administration likes to use these meetings to get things passed that they know the citizens aren’t going to like. I intend to be there (my first meeting in a while due to circumstances..) I will report on the meeting afterwards.
Just a heads up, the City Government is working on number of things that will definitely bite the Citizens in the backside if they are allowed -
1) a five fold increase to our sewer usage fee
2) a yet undisclosed increase to our water fee (I have heard at least three figures for this one and none of them are good…)
3) It looks like the Judiciary Committee is recommending that Gilbert (already one of the highest paid city attorneys in Montana) is to get the pay increase that he was denied in the budget talks last year. He asked to have his “over 55 hours a month” fee increased from $100 an hour to $150 an hour. According to the Judiciary Committee minutes, they approved a smaller increase, but an increase none the less. Our City Councilmen should be looking at hiring a more reasonable priced attorney, not giving Gilbert a rediculous raise on top of the already rediculous fee is being paid already. So much for “financial responcibility”. This still has to go before some kind of budget hearing (It is a significant change to the already approved budget) and has to be approved by the City Council but when has Malesich and Gilbert ever had a problem getting what they want? We shall see how this one develops…
4) Still no progress on the Police Retirement Fund issue - big surprise there…
Anyway, stay tuned for more
